Rurouni Kenshin
Author: Nobuhiro Watsuki Illustrator: Nobuhiro Watsuki Volumes: 8 vols to date, comes out monthly Publisher: shonen jump Price: $7.95 USD
This is a quite old anime, but it has just recently been translated. It aired on cartoon network for about a year, and is now on air again
Description: A tale about a wandering samurai (rurouni) who seeks refuge in the Meiji era. A battousai (man-slayer) in the time of the bakamatsu (called Himura Battousai, and still called that by some vain enemies), or the revolutionary war, but now a reformed man, and upholds a vow never to kill again. He meets a girl by the name of Kamiya Kaoru, the temporary sensei of the Kamiya-Kasshin dojo. Her dojo uses the shinai, a cross between a bamboo and wooden sword, used in kenjutsu, but not lethal (unless using a very powerful type of jujustu). Kenshin stays with Kaoru, and they soon meet Myojin Yahiko, a pickpocket for a gang. Soon after they meet him, he turns away from the gang. They also soon meet Sagara Sanosuke, a street brawler, and a hired merc. This series tells about what happens to each of these characters through time, and about Kenshin's vow never to kill again.
Review: Quite a good anime/manga, but dont listen to me, cause im biast towards it (hence my name). But a good anime/manga overall. Lacks some elements, but not essential ones.

Ranma 1/2
Author: Rumiko Takahashi Illustrator: Rumiko Takahashi Volumes:27 (english) 35 (chinese + japanese) Publisher: VIZ Price: $9.95 USD
A very long series, also in anime.
Description: This series is about a guy named Ranma Saotome who fell into a spring when he was young. The spring was cursed, and called the __ (spring of drowned girl), and there are many others like it, such as the spring of the drowned pig, panda, cat, etc. After falling into one of these springs, whenever doused with cold water, that person will turn into whatever drowned in that spring. eg, whenever ranma touches cold water, he turns into a girl. Hot water reverses this process, but the curse remains. This story is about his life, and the many people he is either engaged with, is nemesis with, or are infatuated with him. Akane Tendo is the girl he is engaged to, as their parents arranged it before they were born. Also, Ukyou Kuonji is engaged with him, as Ranma's father engaged him to her to get the dowry (when ranma was very little) Ukyo is a tomboy, but also a okinamiyaki cook. Shampoo is infatuated with ranma, and after girl-ranma beating her (girl version is Ranko), as Shampoo is an amazon, but then ranma also beat Shampoo. And according to amazonian law, if a male beats an amazon, the amazon must marry the male, if a female beats an amazon, the amazon must kill that female. The other main characters are Ryoga Hibeki, Kuno Takawaki, Kodochi (Kuno's sister) and a few others.

How about if I review? Manga:
Abenobashi: Magical Shopping Arcade story by Satoru Akahori art by Ryusei Deguchi published by TokyoPop volumes: 2 (Thats the whole series) $9.99 Age recomandation: 16+
Description: Saashi Imamiya is pissed off that his best friend Arumi Asahina is moving away from Osaka to Hokkaido. To make matters worse, the shopping arcade he lives in is being torn down after 50 years of service. One construction site knocks down a portal to different dimensions. Saashi and Arumi get transported to different worlds during the series, all based on Saashi's nerdy hobbies.
Review: It is funny, yet tries too hard at times to be serious when it's not. It's a pure comedy worth re-reading. Go nuts with all 4 DVDs of the anime.
Art: 4/5 Storyline: 4/5 Characters: 5/5 Violence: 0/5 Humor:5/5
Total score: 4.9/5
If you like this, try: -Azumanga Daioh -Comic Party -Happy Lesson -Tenchi Muyo!

Happy Lesson written by Mutsumi Sasaki art by Shinnosuke Mori Age suggested: 17+ volumes out: 1 $9.99 for Manga Page count: 170 produced by ADV Manga Description: 18 year old orphan Hitotose Chitose has found out that his parents left him a house. He leaves the orphanage and lives there, only to find out that 5 of his teachers; Mutsuki Ichimonji, Satsuki Gokojo, Uzuki Shitizuue, Yaiyoi Sanzenin, and Kisaragi Ninomai, are his roomates! There are alot of plot twists later in the show. Happy Lesson has also sprung off 2 OVAs, HAPPY LESSON ADVANCE and HAPPY LESSON FINAL.
Review: This is a good take on an old plot. It's comedic, it's dramatic at times, but mostly crazy. Worth watching and reading over and over again. The characters are highly rememberable, and its comedic. Violence is nowhere to be seen in this show. Except for the fight scene in episode 2 of the anime. And the class president beating up perverts.
SCORING Art: 5/5 Storyline: 5/5 Characters: 5/5 Violence: 1/5 Humor: 5/5
TOTAL SCORE:5/5 I also reccomend: -Abenobashi: Magical Shopping Arcade -Rurouni Kenshin -Excel Saga (Anime, not manga) -Comic Party

Comic Party Anime/Manga Manga published by TOKYOPOP DVD distributed by Right Stuf by Sekihiko Inui DVDs out: 4 Manga volumes out: 4
Description: Kazuki Sendo is lead into the world of doushinji by his friend Taishi. Kazuki now wants to just draw and sell his own doushinji. But his girlfriend, Mizuki Takase, won't let him go down to the nerd world without a fight!
Review: Excellent artwork and unique storyline. A manga about manga. the comedy and drama are large portions of the series, and yet agin in my revies, no violence. The series gets overdramatic at the end, that'll make it lose points. In the words of Taishi, "DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE MUFFIN!!!" *MY REVIEWS NOW SHOW A DRAMA FACTOR!* SCORING Art: 4/5 Storyline: 5/5 Characters: 3/5 Violence: 0/5 Humor: 4/5 Drama: 4/5
Overall scoring: 3.9/5
I also reccomend: -Azumanga Daioh -.hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT -Angelic Layer -Chrono Crusade

21+ WTF?! Here the highest age there is for ANYTHING is 18 so that seems pretty farfetched, must be super violent or a hentai that has been banned in 54 countries.
